Midgelow-Marsden
"I work with embroidered textiles, using a wide range of contemporary
textile and mixed media techniquies. These include dying, painting,
piecing and burning fabrics and then adding threads and embellishments
by hand and machine. In my work the embroideries usually take the form
of hangings or framed pieces depicting forms and figures which narrate
a story and evoke feeling and meaning. I refer to the myths, symbols
and expressionism of several cultures, past and present.
Alysn works in her studio at the gallery making work for exhibitions and commissions. She also runs workshops at the studio, or travels to groups.
